Conditions Prior
Prior to the Construction of the Gabion Retaining Wall,
- high seismic activity
- slope slid several times caused by 2 big storms of June and October 2017 ,
- A trench 3m deep spanning 2m stretching 113m of earlier Civil Works.
- A driveway had been cut across the bank for Machinery accessibility and material conveying During Construction of a Gabion Retaining Wall
- Mass Gravity 6m Gabion Retaining Wall had been built from the toe of a 23m slope.
- More space behind the last course of the Gabion Wall to start a new slope inclination
Construction Details
- All structural fill is to be compacted to a maximum organic value of 90% relative compaction @ to ASTM D1557 – 79.
- Minimum organic content 2% in the structural fill.
- The maximum finish slope is to be 2:1 (horizontal to vertical)
